Product categories allow you to classify your products into pre-established groupings, allowing the customer to search for and discover your products based on specific features and applications. Each product assigned to a category will meet a similar consumer need, allowing the customer to search by a certain classification instead of product name. Yodify uses a hierarchical category structure that further refines the specific nature of the categories in which products can be placed.
Example: If a customer searches the Relay Timers category they would be shown any product that has been labeled in the relay timer category, allowing them to discover and explore new products. They may not know exactly what product they’re looking for or what company that sells it. They’re looking for more information, so they can make a purchase and solve their need for a relay timer. As a Brand you want to make sure your products are properly categorized so they will show appropriately no matter the searching strategy the customer uses.
Example: A Customer can search Clocks & Timers as they understand they’re looking for a type of Timer. Once this category is selected they can further refine the category into Electronic Timers, Relay Timers, or just Timers. Each of these categories would have slightly different contents depending on their specific nature of the products within.
Products can have more than one category assigned to it as most products are diverse enough to cover different features, industries, or applications. Being accurate and specific with your categories can help increase your sales.
